Course Summary
This is course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment. It includes demonstrating and explaining to clients how to correctly and safely use portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets in emergency situations.
The unit is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks under the direction of more experienced workers.
Candidate requirements

Must have good verbal and written comprehension of the English language

Must be over 18 years of age

Must have good general health and fitness for practicals (eg. physical work)

Must have basic mathematical skills and knowledge to work out formulas

Must wear long sleeved shirt, long leg pants and steel cap boots

Due to the cost of running the fire extinguisher course, it is essential to meet the min students of 6. If this isn't reached, you will be contacted 5 days prior and rescheduled.
Note:
Desert to Coast Training and Assessing is currently in the process of adding the above unit to our scope of practice. These units were previously assessed through a third party agreement with NRTAFE (RTO 52788) but will be unavailable until our scope has been updated.
