Eligible WA construction workers and employers may be able to reduce training costs through the WA Government’s Construction Training Fund (CTF). The CTF offers rebates on approved short courses and employer grants that help offset apprentice/trainee training costs. Check eligibility and how to claim via the CTF’s site.

Course Summary

This is course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain a dangerous goods (DG) driver licence to transport DG by road. It must be noted that this course does not address all the skills and knowledge for the transportation of DG and further industry-specific training will be required to satisfy legislative requirements to transport DG.

Achieving this unit of competency is a necessary requirement for obtaining a licence. However, it is only one of several criteria for obtaining a DG driver licence. More information can be sourced from the regulator in each jurisdiction regarding other criteria that apply, which can vary between states and territories. Compliance with these requirements may be required nationally and/or in specific jurisdictions.

Candidate requirements

  • Must have good verbal and written comprehension of the English language
  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Must have good general health and fitness for practicals (eg. physical work)
  • Must have basic mathematical skills and knowledge to work out formulas
  • Must wear long sleeved shirt, long leg pants and steel cap boots

When enrolling for our courses you have to complete the Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment. If you have any concerns about your LLN skills, we encourage you to contact us before enrolling.

Learner considerations (Wellbeing & Safety)
This unit involves operating a forklift. Learners should have the coordination, spatial awareness and focus required for safe operation of powered equipment.
