Our Venomous Snake Handling course is designed for individuals who may encounter snakes in their workplace or community, including mining, construction, land management, animal control, and emergency services personnel. This practical, hands-on program provides the knowledge and skills needed to safely and humanely handle venomous snakes while minimising risk to yourself and others.
Participants will learn how to:
- Identify common venomous and non-venomous snakes in Australia
- Understand snake behaviour and risk assessment principles
- Use appropriate PPE and specialised equipment for snake handling
- Safely capture, contain, and relocate snakes in line with best practice and animal welfare standards
- Apply first aid procedures in the event of a snakebite
On successful completion, participants will be equipped with the confidence and competence to work safely in environments where snake encounters are possible, meeting both workplace safety and environmental obligations.
