Confined Space, Gas Testing & Working Safely at Heights Combo

Course Summary
This combined course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus, to safely enter and work in confined spaces, and to safely carry out work at heights. Delivered over one full day, it bundles three nationally recognised units into a single program.
Gas Test Atmospheres (MSMWHS217)
Provides the necessary skills and knowledge to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work. It applies to situations where individuals may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace, and requires the person to interpret readings and take actions based on the interpretation. The unit is suitable for confined spaces, enclosed and partially enclosed spaces, hot work, storage tanks, silos, pits, pipes, shafts, ducts, transport vehicles and ships, and for testing or monitoring as part of a work permit.
Enter and Work in Confined Spaces (RIIWHS202E)
Confined space permits are used in the mining, construction and other industries where personnel are required to conduct work in areas which meet the confined space criteria. This unit provides the skills and knowledge to safely work in a confined space — an enclosed or partially enclosed space that is not designed or intended primarily to be occupied by a person, is at normal atmospheric pressure, and is or is likely to be a risk to health and safety from an unsafe oxygen level, airborne contaminants, fire or explosion, or engulfment.
Work Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204E)
Working at heights is conducted in the mining, construction and other industries where personnel are required to conduct work at a height of two metres or more where no safety rail or barricade is installed. This unit provides the skills and knowledge to safely work at heights.
These units apply to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes. Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to these units can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with the relevant body before applying the unit.
