Course Summary
This course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment. It includes demonstrating and explaining to clients how to correctly and safely use portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets in emergency situations.
The unit is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks under the direction of more experienced workers.
Candidate requirements
- Must have good verbal and written comprehension of the English language
- Must be over 18 years of age
- Must have good general health and fitness for practicals (eg. physical work)
- Must have basic mathematical skills and knowledge to work out formulas
- Must wear long sleeved shirt, long leg pants and steel cap boots

Learner considerations (Wellbeing & Safety)
This unit involves the use of fire safety equipment and simulated fire scenarios. Learners should be physically capable of operating equipment and prepared for exposure to controlled emergency simulations.
