Eligible WA construction workers and employers may be able to reduce training costs through the WA Government’s Construction Training Fund (CTF). The CTF offers rebates on approved short courses and employer grants that help offset apprentice/trainee training costs. Check eligibility and how to claim via the CTF’s site.

Course Summary

Our nationally recognised Scaffolding course is designed for individuals who need to perform work involving the erection, alteration, and dismantling of scaffolding for construction or industrial projects. Delivered by experienced trainers, this course provides both theoretical and practical training to ensure participants can work safely and in compliance with industry regulations.

Throughout the course, participants will learn how to:

  • Identify and assess scaffolding equipment and structures
  • Plan and prepare for scaffolding operations
  • Safely erect, maintain, and dismantle modular scaffolding systems
  • Apply risk control measures and adhere to workplace health and safety standards

Candidate requirements

  • Must have good verbal and written comprehension of the English language
  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Must bring 2 forms of ID (1 x photo ID, 1 x other ID). Photo ID may include drivers’ licence, passport, proof of age card. Non-photo ID may include credit card, bank card, Medicare card
  • Must have good general health and fitness for practicals (e.g. physical work)
  • Must have basic mathematical skills and knowledge to work out formulas
  • Must wear long sleeved shirt, long leg pants and steel cap boots

When enrolling for our courses you have to complete the Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment. If you have any concerns about your LLN skills, we encourage you to contact us before enrolling.

If you have any physical conditions that may affect your ability to complete a course, please visit a doctor and obtain a “Fit for Work” certificate, and send it to: compliance@deserttocoast.com.au

Due to the cost of running the scaffolding course, it is essential to meet the min students of 6. If this isn't reached, you will be contacted 5 days prior and rescheduled.‍

After successful completion of your course you will be issued with a WorkSafe Notice of Assessment which will immediately entitle you to perform work until you receive your High-Risk Work Licence.

We also issue a Statement of Attainment stating the unit achieved and we process your WorkSafe paperwork for you.

In the unlikely event that you fail your assessment; you are welcome to sit in on another class when we have one. You would not have to pay again. Should you choose not to come in again, you are welcome to request that your Fees for registering your High-Risk Work Licence, be refunded to you.

Learner considerations (Wellbeing & Safety)
This unit involves erecting and dismantling scaffolding, including working at heights. Learners should be physically capable, have no significant fear of heights, and be able to follow strict safety procedures.
